Welcome to GJS 2010

On behalf of the Steering and Program Committees for the 13th German-Japanese Symposium (GJS 2010), it is our privilege to invite you to attend the GJS 2010 to be held in Osaka, Japan in September 2010. For some 30 years the GJS has been a major driver in successfully facilitating the exchange of viewpoints and information on telecommunications, IT and media among German and Japanese specialists and leaders from related industries, government and academia. More recently, the 10th Symposium in 2003 (Tokyo) focused on mobile communications, the 11th Symposium in 2005 (Tokyo) discussed Security and Privacy, and the 12th Symposium in 2007 (Berlin) focused on Converged Media and Networks. This time, the 13th Symposium will focus on next generation networks including ITU-T's NGN and the following networks. Information and communications technologies (ICTs) are enabling a watershed moment by transforming networks into social infrastructures. At this symposium, we will review the accomplishments, problems, and emerging expectations of next generation networks from a broad range of viewpoints.
Topics include

  • ITU-T's NGN deployment and near term perspectives of the Internet
  • Technology innovations and challenges facing the future of the Internet
  • Service deployment platforms and applications
  • Socio-economic impact of the future Internet
  • Environmental aspects of the future Internet
  • Global activities including Asian and European countries
We are confident that this year's symposium in Osaka will continue the tradition of providing valuable insights into the development of future societies and technologies.
We are looking forward to meeting you in Osaka!
